Description
The sign of summer in the Arctic, is not when the ice melts, but when the Ice Breaker comes in to start annual Sea Lift operations. Here the Canadian Coast Guard Ice Breaker Terry Fox is seen coming into Frobisher Bay to make way for fuel resupply and cargo vessels. All bulk supplies are delivered to the communities of Nunavut in the short summer ice free season. Hunters had left snowmobiles and qamutiiks on the sea ice to go out hunter for seals at the flow edge.
